The Yanks will be returning to IrishFest Atlanta this year for a great weekend of music. We were thrilled and impressed last year with the local music scene, especially amazed with the talented young musicians we met who are carrying the Irish tradition in the deep south to the next level! We are looking forward to returning to teach workshops and play in some great concerts alongside some of our own trad music heroes. Watch this space for more details!
I'll be rejoining the band this winter for another great tour with Kerry Records' show, An Irish Christmas. We had a blast in 2016, and I'm sure this year will be even better. I'm looking forward to a month on the road with this fabulous and fun group of musicians and dancers. Come check out the show for some lively entertainment and holiday spirit!
As the summer draws to a close, I'll be teaming up once again with my two stalwart Bronx Boys compadres, Dan Lowery and Alan Murray, to enjoy two solid weeks of music and fun at our home away from home, John D. McGurk's in St. Louis. We always look forward to returning to see our friends there, and enjoy playing our curious blend of Irish-American music in one of the coolest bars you'll ever see. We'll be playing Tuesday through Saturday nights both weeks. Come join the party!
For the second year in a row, I'll be traveling to Alaska to join the faculty of the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, teaching workshops on the Irish flute and tin whistle, as well as Irish traditional repertoire. If you're anywhere in the area and want to get started learning to play Irish music, or brush up on your skills, this is a great way to do it! I am excited to be rejoining the band in Broadway's hit musical, Come From Away, for a series of dates this summer. If you haven't seen this show, I highly recommend it as an extremely heartfelt and healing production, extremely relevant to our current times. Not only that, the cast and band are fantastic, and the show recently won a Tony Award for best direction. Hope you can catch a performance!
I'll be carrying on at McGurk's for another two weeks with some great friends joining me on stage. The first week, I'll have the pleasure of playing with St. Louis's own dynamic duo, Ian Walsh and Kevin Buckley, and the second week, I'll be joined by my buddies from New York, Dylan Foley and Matt Mancuso. Should be two more great weeks at one of my favorite spots on earth!
